Green and rainy forests of the north, sunny beaches and warm water of the south, cold and snowy mountain ranges of the west, hot and quiet soil of deserts of the east. Iran has them all. An amazing ecosystem gathered all in one place. It’s the country of all four seasons.

The BROWN PARTshown on the maps represents the mountain ranges, the GREEN PARTindicates the most dense vegetation area, and the YELLOW PARTstands for the deserts of Iran.

 

Mountains of Iran 

Being part of Alp and Himalaya Mountain Chains, Alborz and Zagros Mountain Ranges cause to be introduced as one of the world's most mountainous countries that attracts many tourists and mountain climbers every year.  Stretched from Armenia border in the north-west to the Persian Gulf in the south and to Baluchistan in the east, Iran’s largest Mountain Range, Zagros is populated largely by nomads. A hard land where is the birthplace of many historical figures and events. Close to the Caspian coast stands Alborz Mountain Range, the highest Mountain Range of Iran. Stretching from Azerbaijan and Armenia borders in the north-west to the southern end of the Caspian Sea, and ending near the borders of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in the east. read more... 

Vegetation and Wetlands of Iran

The Iranian forests belong to the European-Siberian growth region in the Holoarctic. This region includes parts of Europe and Northern Asia. The climate varies from cold to moderately warm weather. From the flora perspective, this region could be divided into the sub-regions of Northern, Atlantic, Central Europe and Pontic. Oak, ash, elm, cypress, poplar, willow, walnut, beech, maple, wild almonds, pistachio, Indian fig, Indian tamarind, jasmine, oleander and mulberry. Almost one-tenth of Iran is covered with forests and wetlands. From the Caspian Sea mountain slopes in the north to the Konarak and Chabahar coast line in the south-east and even to the heart of the Persian Gulf marvelous island of Qeshm with its mysterious Hara Forests, an evergreen vegetation line nourishes the land of Iran with an astonishing dense and variety. read more... 

Deserts of Iran 

There are over 60 deserts in Iran; out of them, DASHT_E_KAVIR & KAVIR_E_LUT are the most known in Iran.
